ABSTRACT
In this research project, attempt has been made to determine how much attention the Nigerian press devotes to MDGs issues. One year editions of Daily Trust and The Guardian newspapers from July 2010-June 2011 were content analysed, examining the frequency of occurrence of MDGs issues in the said newspapers, the prominence MDGs receive and the nature of reporting MDGs issues in the newspapers studied. Findings from the research revealed that MDGs issues were not given prominence; no special attention was given to them. Tables and charts were used to descriptively explain the findings of the research. From the findings it was recommended that measures need to be taken to draw the attention of journalists to consistently give special recognition to MDGs issues so as to facilitate its attainment by the year 2015. The research was guided by two theoretical frameworks- Agenda Setting Theory and Development Media Theory, which are considered to be relevant to the subject matter.
